Tinie Tempah
Tinie Tempah also known as Patrick Chukwuemeka Okogwu by his close ones, was born on the 7th November 1988. He came in to the music scene with mixtapes, and grinded under the radar, until he worked with Labrinth in 2010, charting number one in the UK with ‘Passout’.
In south east it is not unfamiliar for someone to know someone who knew Tinie Tempah, as he was based in Plumstead around his teenage years, and went to St Pauls Catholic Secondary school near Abbey wood. During the time he earned his respect amongst his peers, with his mixtapes, and catchy lyrics.
Moreover, he was born in an Igbo (Nigerian) family, and still respected education, so he made sure to complete his GCSE’S and A-Levels, despite the attention he was getting within the urban community, from his videos on for instance Channel AKA. Since his first number one in the UK, he has had international success, completing sensational Albums, winning several awards such as Nigeria’s Entertainment Awards, MOBO’S awards, and a BET award.
From ‘What we wear in Lagos’. In an article he said he really wanted to dig deep into what Lagos meant to him. He wanted to imitate the vibrancy and energy of Lagos through fabrics and cool patterns, through simple items such as vest and jogging pants. You would see he is venturing more in in fashion more than music, “I’ve had three Top 10 albums, I’ve had seven No.1s, I’ve sold millions of records,” he said. “I like to think that I’m entering a new season. I feel like the music is going to get even more progressive”.
Tine Tempah despite his music success apparently has strong faith, and loves his relationship with the Almighty. https://twitter.com/TinieTempah
